The Last Daughter
The Last Daughter is Brenda Matthews’ true story of love, loss, and reconnection. After being raised by a white family, a young girl is taken away and returned to the Aboriginal family she didn’t know. Decades later, she’s on a journey to discover where she truly belongs.
This documentary meets the cross-curriculum priority to teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures, and covers themes across Reconciliation, The Stolen Generation, Personal and National Identity, Culture, Family, Forgiveness, Healing, and Belonging.
Gravity Films have prepared an Information Pack for Schools, which contains information about the film and how schools can gain early access to screenings and free curriculum resources being created by Cool Australia. More information can also be found on The Last Daughter website.
