Embedding Free to Flourish in Learning Communities

It has been inspiring to hear how learning communities are embedding Free to Flourish into their beginning-of-year planning. From staff induction processes and reviewing philosophy statements to shaping teaching and learning plans and developing strategic directions, learning communities are using Free to Flourish as a guiding framework. 

“Imagine the elements of Growing Deep working together in synergy to create an ever-evolving story for all learners in Lutheran education. How might we describe the outcomes of Lutheran education?” (Growing Deep, p.37) 

This thought-provoking question has led schools to reflect on their unique narratives and how Free to Flourish shapes their identity and purpose. 

Every learning community has a story—one that reflects who they are and who they are becoming. Free to Flourish serves as both a foundation and a catalyst, grounding Lutheran learning communities in Christian beliefs and values while inspiring continuous growth, innovation, and connection. 

Through Free to Flourish, schools are deepening their understanding of identity, relationship, and purpose. With confidence in the future, learning communities are growing learners who are compassionate, purposeful, adventurous, and relational—fully equipped to thrive in an ever-changing world.
