Christian Studies Update
What’s Happened?
Equip 2 – Day 3 on 6 May
Christian Studies teachers from Immanuel Primary School, Golden Grove Lutheran School and Encounter Lutheran College finished Equip on Friday May 6th. It was a time of celebration as ALL participants completed and submitted their ePortfolios! Congratulations to Sam, Claire, Olivia (IPS), Emma (GGLPS), and Michael (Enc).
CS Grow – 24 May
A group of CS leaders and teachers participated in CS Grow workshops on Tuesday 24th May online, by engaging in workshops on Bible Stories and strategies or CSCF CL3 – Stewardship. Some of the feedback shared from the Bible Stories workshop included:
- The key for me today was the need to take time and go deep with our Bible stories to help build students’ understanding.
- I also love the idea of linking what is happening in CS with what is happening in devotions, so devotions can support the CS learning.
- I have learnt new ways of comparing and connecting the Bible with picture books & other online resources. I have also had time to deepen my understanding of Luke 24: 36-53, exploring the story in a new way. Considering other perspectives & points of view & how this exploration can fit into classroom learning.
- The content & resources have been very valuable & can be easily implemented into CS lessons once introduced & familiarised by the staff.
- I learnt how to engage with a passage of scripture by the method of – Prepare, Picture it, Prayer, Review/Journal. Love this!
- The Church Calendar is so helpful to have on hand.

CS Grow
Christian Studies teachers in the Lutheran system keep their LEA Accreditation current by engaging in 5 hours of professional learning each year related to Christian Studies and the CSCF. CS Grow workshops meet these requirements and are developed in response to requests from leaders. The final offerings for term 2 are below; please register via LESNW Events.
NB. Hours engaged in CS Grow also count towards Teacher’s Registration Board requirements.
