New Teachers to Lutheran Learning Communities Day – Thursday 8 May

On Thursday 8 May, 17 participants from Lutheran schools gathered for the New Teachers to Lutheran Learning Communities day—a purposeful and engaging opportunity to explore what it means to live out a teaching vocation within the Lutheran education network.
The day centred around deepening understanding of the Growing Deep Framework and Free to Flourish. Participants engaged in a series of sessions that explored key attributes of Lutheran education: being Adventurous, Compassionate, Relational, and Purposeful. These were brought to life through stories, collaborative discussions, and reflective activities.
Participants also explored the history and context of Lutheran Education in South Australia, and reflected on their place within this wider story. A guided historical walk encouraged conversation, connection, and appreciation for the foundations that continue to shape Lutheran learning communities today.
A strong focus throughout the day was the value of community—both within each school and across the wider Lutheran network. This was supported by conversations around accreditation, the Connect and Equip processes, and how these contribute to ongoing professional and spiritual formation.
Feedback from participants reflected the success of the day:
Overall, the day was a rich and affirming experience, fostering connection, purpose, and a clearer understanding of the shared mission within Lutheran education.
