Governance Corner

This month, the LESNW board welcomes its newest member, Rebecca McConnell. Rebecca hails from Bethany Lutheran Primary School in Raceview, Queensland, but has a great understanding of the LESNW region. Her wish to join the LESNW Board comes from a desire to see Lutheran Education flourish across all regions, and to see collaboration across the Lutheran Education regions. We believe that this fits perfectly with our strategic intention “We work better together”.

Rebecca’s skills include project management, finance and entrepreneurship. This complements our current board and fits nicely with the board’s diverse skill set.

The board and Finance Risk and Audit Committee (FRAC) are working hard to support our learning communities realise their potential while working to ensure that we have a healthy and vibrant system. It’s been great to see and hear all of the projects and plans that are happening in our learning communities.

At our most recent board meeting, Jane Mueller, our Governance Leadership Director, shared the work she is doing in the governance space. One of the objectives for this role is to develop and build governance capacity and sustainability. Jane’s outstanding work is fulfilling this objective, with significant resources being provided to learning communities to support their boards. I encourage you to tap into these resources if you haven’t already. Governance is a critical area of an organisation, and I commend Jane for the great work she is doing.

If you are considering joining a board, or just want to know more, please reach out to Jane.

Yours in His service

Paul
