Leading and Learning: What’s Happening?
Leading with Listening
It was such a joy to reconnect with the leadership team at Navigator College last week, and to engage with new team members as part of the regular leadership summits. The session included the exploration of “How might we lead with listening?”, and the role of the compassionate systems tools and strategies. Importantly the group identified the significant benefits of creating space for deep listening including helping us to become more curious, compassionate, collaborative, and respectful.
Creating a Compassionate Culture at IPS Novar Gardens
Having staff back together as a group face to face, was the perfect opportunity to explore Kantor’s Four Player Model with the IPS staff last Wednesday. We have been focusing much of our attention on ‘How we show up?” and this session provided us with the opportunity to explore “How we show up as a team?” There were plenty of ‘a-ha’ moments throughout the session and the realization that for effective team dynamics whether it be with 5 year olds, teaching teams, or the leadership team, we all need the competencies to demonstrate the four stances and the importance of each of them.
Leadership Lab 1.0 2022
While Covid had an impact on attendance for our first session, it was such a privilege to welcome the new cohort of leaders into the Lab co-facilitated by Stephen Jude from Navigator College and Mignon Weckert. Participants ranged from leaders in Kindergarten to Senior Secondary learning environments. The first day included:
- developing a generative social field within the group
- building understanding of compassionate systems thinking and tools and their direct connection with Growing deep
- exploring personally what our work is and our vision related to the work through awareness-based practices
- identifying current reality and preferred future and what additional data is needed to take action using systems thinking.
Steve Jude’s leadership story and the impact that this approach is bringing the Navigator College community, ensured a practical application to the theory.
