DESCRIPTION:WIL Retreat Invitation\n \nThe purpose of this retreat is to empower and equip women within their roles in Lutheran Education by: \n\nCreating some time to ‘step out’ of personal and professional lives to refocus on what God has to say to us as we carry out our roles. Dr Melinda Cousins (Director of Ministries for Baptist Churches SA) will challenge\, extend\, provoke and inspire us by leading us on a journey through 3 different types of Psalms.\n\nPraise: Centering ourselves on Christ\nLament: Bringing our whole selves to Christ\nPilgrimage: Walking daily with Christ\n\n\n\n\nGiving time to think about how God can use us as leaders back in our learning communities and apply some of the ideas shared by Dr Cousins.\nProviding opportunities to network with other women\, share stories\, encourage one another and build our support networks.\n\nLocation \nFurther details will be provided to registered participants closer to the retreat date. We plan to meet at Bridgewater on the Wednesday morning for a walk\, lunch\, and then drive to the retreat location in Brukunga (Adelaide Hills) for the rest of the program. \nThe retreat cost will be up to $350\, with $100 of this fee being a non-refundable deposit. The invoice to your learning community will be adjusted according to the room-type available for the overnight stay. \nPlease note: Your registration means your place on the retreat is secured\, and you agree to pay the full cost of the retreat. The final cost will be invoiced to your learning community after the retreat has occurred. Registrations have now closed. \n

SUMMARY:Cancelled: ACLE6 Sharing: Perspectives from SA Lutheran School Cultural Research
DESCRIPTION:Please note this event has been cancelled\nSue Kupke recently shared one part of her doctoral research at ACLE6 in July at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. An opportunity exists for others to hear this presentation\, reflect on the findings\, and consider how they might apply to their own learning community’s context. \nSue’s abstract reads: \nPrevious doctoral research by Dr Ian Marks over 20 years ago explored the culture of Queensland Lutheran primary and secondary schools from the perspectives of adults. The very limited additional research focusing on Lutheran school culture since Dr Marks’s research led Sue Kupke to explore factors of influence on culture within a Lutheran primary school in South Australia. However\, in her research teachers\, parents and students were all invited to be active participants in the primary data collection method of photographic elicitation interviews. This method engaged participants in taking photos of aspects of the school they perceived as special and then elaborating on why the images were special. Initial findings from this research indicate that the voices and perspectives of students were noticeably different from those of adults. This presentation will share some of the differing adult and student perspectives\, their significance in research and for Lutheran education\, and what this might mean for educators in Lutheran schools. \nThis event is open to all staff within LESNW learning communities who are interested in hearing this presentation.
