Bruno Matuschka 1928-2024
Bruno was a loyal and committed Christian educator. His ministry was an example of selfless and joyful dedication.
Bruno grew up in rural Victoria, Australia, and was schooled at Concordia College in Adelaide, South Australia, receiving his teaching certificate from Adelaide Teachers College in 1948 and studying further at Melbourne Teachers College in 1953. He gained his Graduate Diploma in Educational Administration from Adelaide Teachers College in 1980.
In his lifetime of service, Bruno served in nine Lutheran primary schools including:
- Bethlehem Lutheran School, Tabor
- St Peter’s Lutheran School, Dimboola
- Good Shepherd Lutheran School, Hamilton
- Wau, PNG
- Grace Lutheran Primary School, Redcliffe
- St John’s Lutheran School, Highgate
- Good Shepherd Lutheran School, Para Vista
- Prince of Peace Lutheran College, Everton Hills.
He was Principal at seven of these schools, and founding Principal at St Peter’s Lutheran School Dimboola, Good Shepherd Lutheran School Hamilton, Grace Lutheran School Redcliffe, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Primary School Para Vista.
After retiring from teaching in 1993, Bruno led the Coffs Harbour Lutheran Church with his wife Vilma, and was ordained as a Specific Ministry Pastor to serve them in 1997.
Bruno died on 1 February 2024 and his funeral was held on 12 February 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church Laidley.
